《Chikusa River’s Perspective》
The Chikusa River had been sentenced to ninety days of imprisonment.
His daily routine usually went something like this.
“In the fuckin’ mornin’, prisoner 930! Get your ass out here, now!”
He was shaken awake by a guard and dragged into the light.
Tied to the cross once again, he was left exposed under the blazing sun. “Haa… haa… haa…”
Drenched in sweat, he simply endured it. Then the guard let out a wicked grin…
and approached him, whip in hand.
“W-wait, what are you— GYAAAAH!”
Thwack! Thwack! The guard brought the whip down on the Chikusa River’s body.
“GYAAH! It hurts! Stop it! STOP IT, PLEASE!”
But no matter how much he pleaded, the guard never stopped whipping him.
Countless wounds covered Kiso’s body.
“Gah… gah… haa… aaaah…” “Hey, rub it in.”
At the warden’s command, his underlings approached Kiso. In their hands were…
“S-salt!? What the hell are you bringing us!” “Rub it in.”
“Stop! Stop it! Aaaaaahhhhhhhh!”
They smeared salt thickly into his open wounds.
The pain seared through him, causing him to writhe in involuntary agony.
“Haa… haa… Hahhhoo!”
On the verge of losing consciousness from the pain, the warden splashed water over him again.
“Who said you could sleep? Hnn? Kiso…” “F-fucker…”
Thus, as sunset fell, Kiso was thrown back into his cell once more.
Stumbling to his feet, he began to count by forming the kanji for “one” with his legs.
“Plus… eighty-eight days. That’s it… in another eighty-eight days… I’ll be out of here…”
Kisogawa lay on his back, his teeth grinding together in a harsh screech.
“In eighty-eight days, I’m getting out…! And then… I’m taking every last one of the bastards who did this to me with me to hell…!” ★
And so, Kisogawa was destined to endure days of pain. Eighty-seven… eighty-six…
The prison wall accumulated more and more tally marks. 【正】 【正】【正】
【正】【正】【正】【正】【正】… And then, finally.
“Haa… haa… just one day left…!” Day eighty-nine, at last.
Tomorrow, his sentence would be up, and Kisogawa would be released.
“I endured it… I really did! Hahahaha! I finally made it through…! Kyaaaa-ha-ha-haa!”
These eighty-nine days had been hell on earth.
His nine-month term ending was the only salvation. “Hey, number 930. Get out.”
“So this is it…! I’ve been waiting for this!”
The guard leads Kisogawa out of the cell. Clang!
“Wha? W-Why are you putting handcuffs on me…? Hey!”
The guard’s subordinates attach shackles to Kisogawa’s ankles.
Restraining him from both sides, they force him to walk.
“H-hey! What’s this! Don’t I get to be released!? I’m done here!” “Inmate 930.”
The guard looks at Kisogawa and states clearly. “Your death sentence will be carried out.”
”…What? D-Death…?”
He couldn’t make sense of what they were saying.
“Y-You’re lying! My sentence is ninety days! I’m getting out after ninety days, right!? Right?!”
“A scumbag like you doesn’t get to walk free after just ninety days? You’re a death row inmate. Now, follow me.”
Dragged by the subordinates, Kisogawa is made to walk down the hallway.
And then… they reached the room at the end of the hall.
“W-ah, eh… a… aa…!”
The noose for the hanging was set up in the center of the room.
The subordinates placed the rope around Kisogawa’s neck.
“Stop it… stop itooo! Let me gogo gooo!”
But the subordinates swiftly attached the noose and then forced a cloth bag over his head.
“Hah…! Hah…! I don’t want to, I don’t wantrrraaaaa!” The darkness evoked the presence of death.
Kisogawa wailed and screamed as he pleaded for his life.
“I beg you! Please help me! I d-do not want to dieeeuuu!” Kisogawa’s desperate pleas went unanswered…
“Now, we execute the death penalty…!” Clunk! The floor… opened. Whoosh! His body fell. The rope tightened around Kisogawa’s neck.
“A… ge… ga… ag… i, don’t want to… die… do-…n’t… wa-nt to… d-…ie…”
…And so, Kisogawa Kuso was executed… or so it should have been. ★
“Kahh! Hah… hah… hah… wha, what the…? I’m… still alive…?”
The Kiso River was, indeed, alive.
He should have hanged himself to death… “What the hell is going on…?” “You’re awake…?” Someone leaned in over the Kiso River. “You… you old bastard!”
Matsumoto Takane was looking at the Kiso River.
“What the fuck? I, I should be dead…”
“Hmm. Your execution was certainly carried out.” ”…?” What is he talking about…? The Kiso River looked around. There was a pitch-white room.
A clock on the wall pointed to [9:01]. “Begin administering the drugs.” “Yes, sir!”
As Matsumoto Takane gave the order, a man in a white coat inserted a syringe into the Kiso River’s neck.
And… he injected the liquid. “Ah… ugh… gaaah…” ★ “Wake up! Inmate 930!”
“Huh…? What…?”
The Kiso River was inside a prison cell. The very same cell where he had been confined.
“Hah… hah…? How, how is this possible…?” This was wrong.
He definitely spent 90 days here in this place… But…
“Ah, what…? The character for ‘correct’ that was written on the wall… it’s gone…?”
What the hell is going on here…?
Mizukawa stands there in a daze while the guard informs her.
“You have been sentenced to ninety days of imprisonment.”
