Multiple updates today.
This is Part 1.
Despite the unexpected turn of events, I managed to secure a large quantity of ‘ordinary timber’ alongside Black-Hair Ponytail Sincerity Chairman Yotae.
Got it.
Once back, I survey the space where our current hut is located.
Since we’re utilizing this area under the cliff and haven’t run into any issues so far, there’s no reason to move.
Our new home might as well be set up here.
“Alright, what kind of house shall it be…”
“For now, we’ll need Arano-kun’s bedroom.”
Yotsue said, reiterating her point.
It seems the sight of the three girls and me sleeping together left quite an impression on her.
“I mean, I could just sleep in the hut while the women use the new house, but…”
As I say this, Yotsue makes a face as if she’s regretting speaking too bluntly and shakes her head.
“It—I didn’t mean it that way. It’s not like I want to isolate you or anything…”
Seeing her stammering words, I smile to reassure her.
“Haha, I know. It just seemed like a good idea to me. Plus, from my perspective, it’s a relief if we can all stick together.”
“It’d probably be good to have a place for everyday items that don’t need to be conjured up every time, so I’m not always having to call on Sou-suke-kun.”
Shion offered her opinion while continuing to prepare the food.
“Good point. For instance, if an intruder shows up and I have to join in and summon weapons, that’s a hassle. It might make sense to build a dedicated weapon storage from the start.”
“Heh, I was more thinking of a pantry or a wardrobe, but that works too.”
Shion let out a dry laugh.
For example, if we run out of soap, it’s a pain for you to have to call me every single time.
Maybe it’s worth setting up a storage area for consumables and such.
“And considering our group might grow in the future… maybe we should build it a bit larger?”
Even the shack we were looking at had been built initially for just me and Chiyu.
By the end of that day, we were four, and while we barely fit, it’d be tight for five.
Instead of rebuilding every time someone new joins, it’s better to build a big house from the start.
“Kuno-kun, can you construct multi-story buildings as well?”
“Ah, I think so.”
「Then, how about making everyone’s bedroom on the second floor and setting up a living room and kitchen on the first floor?」
「So it’ll have the same layout as a regular house. In that case, it might be good to add doors connecting to the bath so you can go straight from the house to the bathing area.」
「That’s true. Also, I think it would be nice to put a roof over the bathing area so we could take a bath even when it’s raining.」
「Indeed. Right now, the bath, the latrine, the workbench, and the dining table are all out under the open sky. But then again, once you have some spare materials, there are always a hundred things you want to do.」
「Of course, since Tanikubo-kun is generating it, please include whatever you consider most important.」
「No, I think we should discuss this properly once everyone has gathered. For now, let’s just work out the basics with Tetsubou.」
My words were met with a soft smile from Shisou.
“Well, then, let’s do that.”
With Tetsubou’s help, we quickly finalized the basic layout of the floor plan.
Once that was done, we decided to help Shiin with her tasks.
「How about you two cut up some meat for a yakiniku party?」
『Craft Generation』 is strictly limited in its culinary applications; it won’t even butcher the meat beyond basic cutting.
It can separate the rough cuts, but after that, you have to place them yourself and do the cutting by hand.
Four staffs and two people, slicing through roast meat.
“Hey, Yotsuzou-san. Can you use akebi vine skin for stuffing, like bell pepper rolls?”
Shiine spoke to Yotsuzou as he worked.
“Mm.”
“I took a small bite, and it’s incredibly bitter, but I suppose if we remove the astringency first, it should be fine.”
“Yes, that sounds like it will work well.”
“Hmm, hmm. Ah, Takano-kun, could you lend me another knife?”
“Sure, of course.”
He handed over the stone blade.
Shiine pounded the minced meat with a double-handed grip on two stone knives.
The mushrooms were also chopped finely.
He salted the meat and mushrooms in the bowl, mixed them together, and stuffed the mixture into the akebi vine skin.
“Once the other two are back, let’s just fry them in oil.”
“That sounds great! Frying is good too, but it’ll probably have a different texture from eating plain mushrooms or meat, so I’m looking forward to it.”
“It’s nice to hear you say that.”
“…But with yakiniku on the menu as well, I can’t help worrying about the calories.”
“Well, considering today’s the welcome party for Shion-san…”
“Welcome party… y-yes. I appreciate the hospitality.”
Shion seemed a bit flustered.
“It’s not about calories, but you guys need quite a few things: vegetables, rice, seasonings, and so on.”
“Mm. It really hits how spoiled we were in Japan, doesn’t it? I’d like some sandwich bread, eggs, and ketchup. And bacon…”
Bread requires wheat, eggs require chickens, ketchup has multiple ingredients—there’s a lot that needs to be sourced.
Since there is wild boar meat available, making bacon seems feasible…
But I don’t know the specific steps other than smoking it, so maybe I should ask someone else.
“I just really want a cup of hot chocolate…”
Could they make hot cocoa if they had cocoa beans?
No, wait, if we can get our hands on cocoa beans, I’d like to make chocolate too…
The three of them spent a while reminiscing about their lives in Japan.
“If that mysterious blackboard appears in my dreams again tonight, something might be added via the vote once more.”
“Yeah. And being able to talk about what we want to eat, rather than just what’s available—we’re really blessed.”
“I certainly think so. If everyone hadn’t helped me out, I might have ended up stranded, clutching a spell that didn’t even work right.”
“Heh, you say that? My abilities are way worse than that. I don’t know what would’ve happened if Shouko-chan hadn’t picked me up.” And with that, the two of them looked at me.
“Plus,” they added.
“Still, it comes down to a lot of credit going to Tanabe-kun’s ability, doesn’t it?”
“That’s true. I’m sorry for relying on you so heavily, but please make sure to let me know if anything is bothering you.”
“I will. Just, as things stand, crafting is fun, so there’s no issue.”
We kept chatting while our hands worked.
“I’IIIIIVE IIIIIII!”
“The Queen has returned!”
The two of them and Mashiro came back inside.
“Welcome home, Shouko-chan, Chiayu-chan, and Mashiro-kun. Is it okay if I start making dinner?”
“I love this life where I get to come home and have a wife named Shiko!”
“A wife to who? If it’s about Sou-san, I’m sorry, but no one is taking the title of First Lady from me.”
“W-Whoa, ‘wife’… Izami-san, you’re moving too fast on that!”
With all five of us together, the place instantly got lively.
“All right, let’s get to dinner.”
“Tonight we’re having grilled wild boar, akagi stuffed with meat, and a mushroom and vegetable soup.”
“Whoa! Isn’t our diet improving a bit too fast? It’s only been two days!”
“After dinner, we’re going to start building the new house. We plan on making it two stories.”
“Miorin chopped down so many trees today. I was supposed to help out with that part, you know.”
Maeiko said this with an admiring tone, but Yutetsu had a bitter look on his face, likely remembering his failure earlier today.
“I haven’t forgotten about the Fenrir cabin incident either.
Let’s discuss it later,” I told Maeiko.
“My bedroom is next to Soukun’s.”
“Then I’ll take the room on the opposite side, then!” “Huh? It’s first come, first served!?”
At Chiyu and Shiin’s comments, Maeiko let out a panicked voice.
“Ah, you two…”
Yutetsu put on a troubled expression.
“That’s right, everyone. Let’s include Yutetsu in the meeting later.”
“Hmm. It’s unavoidable for the healthy operation of the group.”
“M-Miorin is gonna get mad at this…”
Only Maeiko blushed, looking embarrassed.
This was the girls’ secret meeting held yesterday.
Which led to… well, that kind of situation with Shion in the bath today…
Thinking about Menoko and Yousou being involved too… makes my body heat rise.
Shaking my head side to side to reject such worldly desires, I generated a slate for the yakiniku.
Since I had urgent matters today, the updates have been a bit irregular, but
I will be making multiple updates, so I hope you can read them.
Also, thank you for maintaining the #1 spot in both Daily and Weekly rankings!!!!!!!
