Shouko was staring into the distance.

“I don’t think I’m much help here, so I was just waiting for Sounosuke to get back.”

It was hardly an issue now since they already had the power to summon spirit beasts, but I wondered if you could still summon creatures with no canonical source material as long as your mental image was clear enough.
Just then, Shion returned.
Besides preparing my and Chiyu’s portions of herbal tea, she poured refills for everyone else.
The scent made me think it smelled like Shion… but I immediately shook my head in correction.
It was the other way around.
Shion had added lemongrass to her soap, so we just happened to smell the same.
It wasn’t that the tea smelled like Shion; rather, it was as if the tea and Shion shared the same scent.
As if reading right through my thoughts, Shion smiled warmly.

I imagine it’s a rare experience, but at least it was useful in this case.
