The moment Professor Luminas joined, the second-floor bedrooms became insufficient.
There are still rooms on the first floor that could be repurposed by clearing out the storage space, but…
Since we were doing it anyway, I decided to generate a new residence for the third generation.
The first generation was the hut we built back when it was just me and Chiyu, and the second is the house we currently use.
“No way? Isn’t this house already pretty spacious?”
Soubei, fresh from a bath and looking sharp, said this while taking his seat.
“We’re short on private rooms, and since we’re rebuilding anyway, I wanted to make everyone’s spaces a bit bigger.”
“And Master’s bedroom as well.”
The maid Roa spoke up, delivering an important piece of information.
“Mm. I agree. But… it does feel a little lonely.”
“Right. I have so many memories associated with this house too.”
“I guess there were quite a few things that happened here, huh…”
Sena, Uta, and Meiyo—the women who had shared their first experiences with me—looked over here and spoke.
“Ahh… Just like with the first hut, we’re not destroying anything, just putting it into storage, so don’t worry about it.”
As for materials, there was plenty to spare.
“As long as I can be with everyone, it doesn’t matter what kind of house we live in.”
Shinpo said.
It felt like a hint of petulance lingered in her tone, but perhaps I was just imagining things.
Fukami’s turn was tonight.
She might have been feeling left behind compared to the other three at this point.
“I don’t intend to build something excessively large or like a grand mansion, since moving around inside would be a hassle, but I’d like to hear everyone’s opinions as well.”
Since we were preparing private rooms for all nine of us, it was certain the house would end up being spacious anyway…
“Hmm. Now that there are more girls, should we make the bath bigger?”
Meiyo crossed her arms and strained to offer a suggestion. “I see. Let’s do that.”
Since drawing the water was my responsibility, it wasn’t easy to set it up so anyone could use it whenever they wanted.
If we did, I would constantly have to drain and refill it every time the bathwater started cooling down.
I’m fine with doing it, but the women in my household might hesitate to join.
Which is why the girls are currently bathing together in a group. Today, that group has grown to eight.
It was originally built with hot springs in mind and made quite spacious, but it might not be bad to make it even wider.
“Since you mention that, could we please ask for the kitchen to be expanded too? It was originally made just for me, but Lo-chan helps out now, and Senyū-chan joins in often as well.” “Understood. Let’s do that then.”
Let’s design it with a wide layout, less like a home kitchen and more like a restaurant’s prep area.
Since Shion’s cooking is one of the major joys of our life on this desert island, a change like this is no trouble at all.
”…If that’s the case, I’d be happy to have a library. We don’t have many books beyond textbooks yet, but I’d like to gradually add more, make available materials about this desert island for viewing, and… ensure it can be used whenever I want to study.”
It was very much in character for Fuka.
“That’s true. A quiet place to study would be a good thing to have.”
In my own room, only I could study, and the living room tends to get noisy.
A space where we don’t monopolize textbooks and everyone can use them is certainly useful.
“Then how about a room specifically for playing?”
Shomi said with an excited look. “Play, you say? What would we even do there?”
“Mm. How about something fun?”
“Why not just run around the fields?”
Dream Realm snorted coldly at Shokubou’s vague suggestion.
“Oh, okay. Then let’s go for a run with Seri!”
“Stop dragging me into things.”
“You mean building something like a gym hall so we can play badminton or table tennis?”
I’m not exactly skilled at these things myself, but I get the appeal.
“That sounds good! How about bowling too?”
It was starting to click what Shokubou wanted.
She was probably thinking about how to replicate some of the activities you can do at famous amusement centers.
“For bowling, we’d have to manually reset the pins and ball back to their original spots. …Maybe pool would work?”
“Okay! Also, I want one of those things! The kind of table like in casinos where you play cards!”
I’d never actually been to a casino, but I understood the fascination people had after seeing it in movies.
“As your teacher, though, I can’t let gambling happen…”
「What are you saying, Lumi-chan? We’re in a different world, we’re on an desert island, and besides, no real money is at stake. There’s absolutely no problem with it, you know.»
“Umm… w-well, that might be true, but…”
“It’s all right, Sensei. It hasn’t rained here on the island yet, but that doesn’t mean it won’t in the future. I figured we’d need a way to kill time at home when that happens, so I think having a game room is a great idea.”
Video games, or maybe watching dramas and anime together were options too, but more choices just meant more fun.
Besides, we had gained a new perspective.
“Hey, hey, Sou-suke. I was thinking—if our physical stats carry over, wouldn’t it be great if we practiced sports we’re bad at here until we got good? Then we could really shine in PE class when we get back to Japan.”
It seemed Moushi had noticed the same thing I had.
“Right, right, it’s not just about studying.”
You could gain all kinds of experiences on this desert island.
Even with games, what people call “grinding” takes time, but no matter how many days we practiced here, not a single second would pass on Earth.
The same went for sports.
We couldn’t change our innate aptitude or talent, but we could secure as much time to put in effort as we wanted.
Actually, building a gymnasium might be worth considering too.
But for now, the house is the priority.
”…Runa, did you really ask Uno for a favor? Can you actually pay him back?”
“Hahahaha, you’re so naive, Seri. I fully intend to give proper thanks.”
Runa grinned mischievously, looking like she had something up her sleeve.
”…I don’t care. Just don’t tell me the details.”
“Actually, how are you planning to pay back Seri? Your Barrier skill is amazing, but have you finished paying off what you owe?”
”……Shut up. I’m working on it too, okay?”
“I-it’s true though… One must always reflect on whether one’s contribution matches such lavish treatment.”
The teacher, who had been listening to the conversation between Shoji and Yume-gai, murmured something.
“Does anyone have any other suggestions?”
Chiyu raised her hand smoothly.
“Oh, Chiyu. What kind of facility do you want?”
“I want to spend time in the same room as Souku.”
In an instant, Shoushi reacted with “Isn’t that cheating!?”, Shiina with “If that’s allowed, I’d like to be there too,” and Fupou with “W-wait, me too…”
Loa also chimed in, saying, “In that case, if you could build a waiting room right next door so I can respond to my Master’s requests immediately……”
In the end, I separated my private room and bedroom with a door to make them distinct spaces, and decided that anyone was welcome to enter the private area.
I figured it might cause a lot of trouble if people started barging into the bedroom uninvited.
Once everyone had calmed down, we sat back down to work out the details again.
We all went outside to generate our new home.
