Waking up in the morning, the first thing to greet my eyes was an unfamiliar ceiling.
That’s only natural.
After all, this was the first time I’d ever woken up in such a massive bed.
On top of that, following Roa’s suggestion to include a canopy, it had turned into a four-poster setup resembling the kind found in fantasy novels where nobles sleep.
But waking up in such a splendid bed was less important than what came next.
“Mmm…”
Beside me lay the beautiful girl who was stirring awake: Fukaho.
Her signature ponytail, her trademark feature, had clearly been let down for sleep, as stray strands were scattered across the bedsheet like fallen petals.
I’d seen her this way a few times before—like after she got out of the bath—but even so, it was a fresh sight to behold.
“Good morning, Fukaho.”
Fukaho opened her eyes, took one look at me with a flash of surprise, and then blushed as though suddenly remembering something.
“G-Good morning, Sousuke-san.”
She hastily sat up in a fluster.
The bed and the floor around it still bore strong traces of what had happened yesterday.
My trousers, used condoms, towels stained with our sweat and other fluids, a distinctive scent hanging in the air, and the crimson evidence marking Fukaho’s loss of virginity all told the story.
Because we’d gone through the bonus area and crossed the vast expanse of white space between them, it felt like a significant amount of time had passed. Yet the state of the room immediately brought back memories of last night’s events.
“Ah… Fukaho. Your window is open.”
”…!?”
The buttons on her uniform were still undone, as I had left them, exposing the skin of her chest.
She hastily covered herself with both hands.
“Ah… it’s embarrassing.”
I felt that we had done far more embarrassing things yesterday, but perhaps this was a different kind of shame.
“Are you physically okay?”
“Eh… y-yes. Thank you… There is a bit of an ache, but I’m fine.”
“Just to be safe, let’s ask Chiiru for a Basic Recovery spell.”
“O-oh. Okay. …But will Miss Chiiru mind?”
Admittedly, having your girlfriend heal the pain of breaking your virginity from another girl’s loss of purity might have been quite the clumsy move.
“No, but since she cast Pain Relief for you earlier, it should be fine, right? If she has any complaints, Chiiru would just tell us.”
“That’s… right. Right. So then… Sōsuke?”
As I got out of bed, pulled on my pants, and opened the window to let some fresh air in, Fukaho was looking at me.
“Hm?”
“W-well, it seems the other girls did all sorts of things this morning too, but aren’t we supposed to have that event next?”
“Y-yes, we are…”
We were supposed to gather in the living room immediately after waking up.
But for the last three days, I’d been spending mornings with Chiyu and the others doing all sorts of things.
Maybe it wasn’t good that Shinhou was the only one missing out on that.
She got out of bed, quickly straightened her clothes, and approached me.
Standing there, she gently placed both hands against my chest as she moved closer, stretching up slightly to press a kiss to my lips.
“It’s just that… if you don’t take care of me properly later, I won’t be happy…?”
When she said that with her eyes glistening like that, how could I possibly refuse? Besides, I had no intention of refusing in the first place.
“Ah, yeah.
Of course.”
“Good.”
She flashed a brief smile, and we headed together toward the living room.
Just before the doorway stood Chiyu, who quickly cast ‘Intermediate Cure’ and ‘Purify’ on us.
‘Purify’ was probably her substitute for taking a shower.
Since the event would start soon, we didn’t have time to wash away last night’s traces.
Casting magic in front of everyone would be too blatant, so it seemed she was being considerate. “Thanks, Chiyu.”
“Mm.
No problem, really.”
Chiyu kept a blank expression while giving a firm thumbs-up. “Ah, thank you, Ms.
Chiyu.”
“With this, Mino-chan is officially in the harem.”
“Does… does that mean it’s settled?”
Fukaho turned red again.
It was a situation I had never once imagined while living in Japan.
Chiyu, my childhood friend; Yoko, the delinquent who was surprisingly kind to otaku; Shiine, the pure girl with an overwhelming fan base among boys; and Fukaho, the strict, earnest, and smart class president.
I had ended up dating all four of them simultaneously.
“Sou-kun, that leaves twenty, right?”
“Why is the premise that I have to be with every single one of them?”
There were twenty-three female students, plus Professor Luminas, making a total of twenty-four women on the island.
You could even say that one-sixth of the women on the island were now my girlfriends, but…
“I-it’s an exaggeration to say ‘everyone,’ but I do think there’s a chance the number will increase further.”
“It’s going to increase for sure. The wife who holds the official title knows that.”
“Mmm… N-no, let’s focus on the event now.”
Images of my time with Roa and Mashiro’s behavior in the changing room flitted through my mind, but I shoved them aside; now wasn’t the time for that.
The three of us entered the living room, taking in everyone present.
“Morning. Since I need to explain things to the Mashiros too, how about we head outside?”
At Yobiko’s suggestion, I nodded.
“Aah, let’s do that. All event members, please gather outside the house.”
The final roster consisted of myself, Chiyu, Yobiko, Fuhou, and Genchu.
Dream Realm’s barrier ability is useful, but this time they will be staying behind to guard this house and the absent party unit.
The participating members headed outside, though for some reason the other members followed them.
It seemed they were seeing us off.
Stepping out into the early morning air, the world was bathed in a pale, soft light.
Mashiro of Fenrir and Mikron of the Black Dragon approached Yobiko and me, respectively.
“Oh-oh, good boy. Mashiro is being a good girl today~. We have an event ahead, so take care.” / “Take it easy too, Mikron.”
Stroking the soft, fluffy black fur, I spoke to them in a gentle voice.
“Oh, right. Genchu, could you try transforming into your Phantom Beast just to test it out?”
Genchuu stared blankly at the sight, his shoulders jerking.
“Y-Yeah! Um, well, let’s just try transforming into Fenrir for now!”
As she closed her eyes in concentration, her body flashed with light for an instant. The next second—Fenrir appeared.
“Whoa. Amazing! Is he a little bigger than Mashiro-kun?”
Shiou clapped her hands in surprise.
“Mew wow! Let me cuddle~”
When Shozu hugged him, Genchuu’s Fenrir whimpered in distress.
But the one who reacted even more strongly than Shozu was Mashiro.
Mashiro approached Genchuu-Fenrir, staring at her with heavy, rough breathing.
Genchuu-Fenrir backed up a few steps, looking flustered.
“Mashiro, stay. Even if she looks like a Fenrir, Meow-chan is a heroine candidate for Saiku-kun.”
”…They are living creatures after all. Is it not only natural that they would want to continue their lineage?”
At the reactions from Chiya and Shinho, Genchuu-Fenrir shuddered and reverted back to human form.
The woman who returned was left with tear-filled eyes.
“Now, Mashiro! You can’t scare Mian like that!”
Scolded by Shoushi, Mashiro slumped his shoulders in dejection.
“Oh… um, Mashiro-kun? Well, I’m doing just fine, so there’s no need to look so dejected…”
Genchu offered her comfort.
”…Just to be safe, wouldn’t it be better to transform into the Black Dragon?”
“S-Sure, that makes sense.”
Nodding in agreement with Yume’s advice, Genchu bobbed her head affirmatively.
”…If Lady Shoushi summons a female Fenrir and bonds with her as well, would a child Fenrir be born?”
Roa voiced a simple question.
That was something he wondered about too, along with what status that child would hold if one were to be born.
Would it be treated as Shoushi’s summon beast? Or could it move freely without the restrictions on its abilities?
Well, it wasn’t something to worry about right now.
Before they knew it, the start time for the event drew near.
The party had already been adjusted to a five-person formation, and everyone’s condition was in order.
“About time,” one said.
“Good luck with your battles, everyone,” the other added.
Roa sends them off with the kind of phrase you’d only hear in a martial arts or war epic.
“An event where students have to fight each other… please, everyone come back safe and sound, okay?”
Sensei Luminas prays her hands together, his face etched with worry.
“You guys are the strongest team, you’re gonna win for sure! Go get ‘em!”
Shoubei cheers them on with boundless energy.
”…Alright, leave this end to me. No one’s getting through until Kujiro and the others get back.”
Yumekai volunteers to guard their absence.
“I’ll make a delicious breakfast and wait for you.”
Suppressing her unease, Shion said with a smile.
“Ah, I’m off.”
“To bring back the ‘Right of Return’.”
“I’ll definitely win!”
“So that we can all come home together one day, I’ll give it my all.”
“It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay…”
Genshuu is the only one who looks anxious, but generally, everyone seems to be in their usual form.
And then, suddenly, the field of vision is washed in blinding white.
The next moment, we were in the forest.
Looking around, I noticed a grand castle of sand built right behind us.
We’d need to defend this while destroying the enemy’s castle, presumably.
“So-kun, that.”
When Chiyu pointed at the sky, I turned to follow her gesture and saw a hexahedron like crystal floating in mid-air.
And then, text appeared within it.
“[5, 4, 3 until the start of the first match]”
They appeared to have been placed in place of a blackboard or monitor.
“Alright, let’s get started.”
“Two… one… zero!”
The first match began.
