「Well, thanks to everyone here, I’ve managed to establish contact with all forty students scattered across this island and secure their cooperation. Thank you so much for indulging my eccentricities as their teacher. You’re all truly admirable! I’m deeply proud of you all!」
Teacher Luminous held her cup up, delivering a toast.
It certainly didn’t seem like an illusion that her eyes were glistening with tears.
「Let us continue to hold hands together and survive on this desert island! Cheers!」
“Cheers!” the group’s voices echoed in unison.
After that, everyone sat down to their meal.
Ku-ku-ku. “Chii-chan. I’m challenging you for a rematch.”
Shouko held her chopsticks, smiling with a wicked smirk.
“Hoo… Let’s see what kind of growth you’ve made since then, Shouko-chan.”
Chi crossed her arms, responding while projecting an air of quiet, cool confidence.
On the heated stone slab, wild boar sizzled loudly.
Roach the maid flipped the meat at the perfect moment when one side was perfectly seared.
Tension crackled between the two of them.
A bead of sweat trickled down Shouko’s cheek.
Chi remained perfectly composed.
Then, the moment arrived.
“Now…!”
Shouko’s eyes widened sharply, and her arm shot out in a thrusting motion.
The chopsticks, which were just about to grasp a piece of freshly grilled meat… instead, struck the empty air.
“Wha…t!?”
Shouko let out a groan of shock.
The meat that seemed to have vanished was now sitting on Chiya’s plate.
“Shouko-chan, you got faster, huh. But… the meat was only finished one second before you moved.”
“Grrr… I lost again!”
Shouko dropped her shoulders in defeat.
“I’m open to a rematch anytime.”
Displaying the composure of a winner, Chiya took a bite of the meat.
Everyone else, having avoided the intense battle between the two, was eating peacefully, with the maid Loath placing food on their plates at just the right moments.
Presumably, Loath was using her ‘Ability to Know What You Want,’ providing opponents with what they desired exactly when they wanted it.
“Thanks, Loath. But please make sure you eat your own meal properly.”
“Thank you for your concern. I will attend to my own portion in due course.”
Professor Luminous was served a steak of wild boar and enjoyed it deliciously alongside the wine.
By the way, aside from wine, brewing other alcoholic beverages has been currently proving difficult.
That’s apparently why the crops assigned to this island are ‘wheat’—since it can be used for various types of brewing—and not ‘barley.’
Wheat itself is indeed utilized in brewing, but it seems serving as just one ingredient isn’t enough; having it alone doesn’t cut it.
There’s no ‘rice’ either, so we can’t produce sake or any other rice-based spirits.
Sake is useful for cooking sake, and if they had glutinous rice, they could make mirin as well, so Shiune seems to be strongly seeking rice.
They did manage to buy some in the bonus area, but that portion was meant for the team to eat……
Life on this desert island is becoming increasingly convenient, yet there are still plenty of things they desire.
The future holds promise.
“Yorina. Back then, when the Treant grabbed your tail by surprise… I’m really sorry.”
“I’ve heard it too many times already. Didn’t I say it wasn’t your fault? If I hadn’t been so preoccupied with my tablet, none of this would have happened.”
Genchu is apologizing to Yorina.
Genchu, having turned into a Black Dragon, had his tail grabbed by the Treant.
The impact from that moment caused Yorina to fall.
However, as Yorina herself pointed out, she was also careless.
It’s hard to say either party was truly at fault.
”…I know. Just be more careful next time, okay?”
“I’ll deploy a barrier around me for the next one too. That way, monsters will just bounce off anyway.”
Glad they weren’t holding any grudges.
“Hey hey, Boss.”
Sōbe quietly approached Fukuhō and started whispering to her.
“What’s on your mind, Sōbe-san?”
“Oh, just call me Junme, please.”
“Thank you. I’ll do the same then, Ms. Junme.”
“So… I have a question for Boss.”
“Hmm?”
”…How did it come to pass that you got in bed with Takano?”
“Cough! hrrk!”
Fukuhō choked audibly.
“Waa, sorry, sorry. Here, drink some water!”
“Ah, thank you…”
Sōbe handed the water to Fukuhō and rubbed her back for comfort.
“Don’t be so surprised, I’m sorry, Boss.”
“It’s f-fine… but why ask me?”
“Because he’d give the most proper advice?”
“A, advice? No way…”
“Well, yeah… I don’t think you need to say why.”
”…Y-Yes. So it is. If you want my help, I’m in.”
“Yahoo! Major-san is so cute!”
I should probably stop listening for now.
I tried to slip away quietly when someone grabbed my arm.
“Ikuno-kun! What are you doing?”
It was Miss Luminous, drunk as a skunk.
“Miss… memories stay, so you should ease up…”
“No way! It’s a celebration! Besides, you’ve really turned out great, Ikuno-kun!”
“Ah, thank you.”
Her arm was draped over mine, and the feeling of her chest against me made my heart race.
「Today, I’m sorry. This is all Mr./Ms. Sensei’s fault!»
「No, no, it’s because the sensei was there that we were able to keep the classmates in check. We should be thanking you instead。」
My companions don’t ask me to save others at my own expense.
Because they understand the burden such a request would place on me.
But even so, there must have been a sense of concern for their friends.
While it’s clear that my party has the better living conditions, compared to where the girls are staying with me or Seihou, their safety is accounted for.
Even if they don’t say it out loud, there might have been a lingering guilt about being privileged in comparison.
However, with Mr./Ms. Luminas mediating, we were able to connect with everyone, allowing us to distribute the generated items from my ability to the other students as well.
Moreover, since we acquire materials and information on our end too, it’s not a loss for us.
「I never would have realized that Kunou-kun was such an admirable person back when he was on Earth。」
「Hahaha, I was just one of the unnoticed ones, you know.」
Being close to Chiyu, a beautiful girl—that was, if I had to name it, my most conspicuous trait.
“Perhaps one cannot truly gauge a person’s worth through school life alone.”
“That’s how it is, I suppose.”
“I’m so gl…! In that sense too, I’m glad I came to this desert island.”
The Sensei began to wobble unsteadily.
I manifested a wooden chair and placed it there. I had the Sensei sit down.
“Such thoughtfulness is lovely…”
As I gently guided her into the seat, the Sensei reached out and stroked my head.
“There, there… Good boy, good boy…”
”…Thanks.”
It was somewhat embarrassing.
“I, I must, give thanks for this.”
His voice was high and thin.
“There’s no need to worry about it.”
“N-no… I think it’s necessary. Is there anything you want me to do for you, Kuano-kun…?”
The Sensei’s face, flushed red from alcohol, looked strangely alluring.
Her glistening eyes trembled, as if afraid of being rejected.
“Uh…”
“Or perhaps… older women like the Sensei are out of bounds?”
The topic of gratitude seemed to have shifted into a discussion about women’s preferences…
“No way. It’s not just me; pretty much all the guys here… look up to Sensei.”
The reason I corrected myself to say “pretty much” was because of Tenkai, with his taste for mature women, flashing through my mind.
From his perspective, Sensei would probably still fall into the category of being too young.
“R-really…? Compared to high school girls, do you think of me as a middle-aged woman?”
“I think of Sensei as an older sister.”
Hearing the term “older sister,” Teacher Luminous relaxed with a look of relief.
Then, she looked up at me again.
“Then… Kunou-kun… is there anything you’d like your older sister to do for you?”
I swallowed hard.
In that instant, my eyes involuntarily fell on her twin mounds, which were even more impressive than Chiya’s.
She reacted sensitively to the direction of my gaze.
And after glaring at me with a bashful, admonishing look, she let out a playful little laugh, as if permitting a mischievous act.
“I understand quite well. I’ll keep that in mind.”
As the teacher smiled and said this, she had discarded the mask of her earnestness as vice-homeroom teacher, wrapping herself instead in an adult allure.
“Sousuke~. Sorry, would it be okay if I had some additional ingredients brought out?”
Just then, Shiin’s voice reached me from behind.
“You don’t have to worry about Sensei anymore. Please go take care of her.”
“Yeah. Ah, just… try not to drink too much, okay?”
“Heh heh. Sure, I’ll be careful.”
I turned my back on Sensei and headed toward Shiin.
Did Sensei notice?
That halfway through, my drunken tone had vanished.
In other words, was she pretending to be drunk just so she could talk to me?
If that was the case, I couldn’t help but find Sensei incredibly cute.
