Me and Professor Luminas, fresh out of the bath.
Believe it or not, Professor Luminas used a towel to dry off my body for me.
It was all so incredibly thorough and attentive that I barely felt like this was actually happening.
After letting them use a hairdryer to dry my hair.
“There we go, all done. With hair at about Sou-chan’s length, it dries up pretty quick, doesn’t it?”
The Professor stroked my hair with an air of playful delight.
“Thanks. It does seem like a lot of work for the Luminas clan.”
“I know, right? I even considered just cutting it off, but…”
Glancing over, the Professor caught my eye in the mirror.
I got the vague sense that I knew what answer they were hoping for.
“Sure, shorter would probably suit you too, but I think this length looks amazing on you as well.”
If I had a sunny personality, I’d probably say that with ease, but I’m still getting nervous just thinking about it.
But she seemed to have drawn the correct answer, as she smiled.
“If you say so, Sou-chan, then I suppose I’ll just stay like this.”
The distance between them was that of lovers.
If we hadn’t been transported to this desert island, I probably never would have seen her this way.
“— S-so, Kunno-kun. Please go up to the second floor first.”
“Ah, yes.”
Suddenly, she reverted to her teacher-like tone.
Next time it develops into something like that, will her speech patterns change again?
Honestly, both versions of the teacher are attractive, so I’m personally pleased.
“Then… um… thank you very much.”
“O-ohh…… You’re welcome. It’s really me who should be thanking you, Kunno-kun. For helping out in so many ways… I truly appreciate it. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
I stepped out of the changing room and quietly closed the door.
Then, a voice came from behind me.
“Ah~~~~. H-how embarrassing. Was that okay? I mean… since you gave it to me, it was fine, right? …And boy, that was big… Ah, something like that… does it really go in?… Since it went into the petite Izeyama-san, it’s probably safe, right? …Wait, what am I thinking…!”
She probably doesn’t realize that I can hear her perfectly well from the other side of the door.
Judging it better not to engage out of mercy, I silenced my footsteps and headed for the second floor.
Partway through, I thought I heard a wistful moan coming from the changing room……
I gritted my teeth against the urge to turn around and climbed the stairs.
Stepping out onto the second-floor hallway, I found someone waiting for me there.
“Yo, Okuno.”
It was Amabe Junma, a dark-skinned gyaru girl in wool loungewear.
She had cut the bottom into shorts, which at first glance made it look like she wasn’t wearing anything underneath, but she definitely was.
“Amabe, what’s up?”
I said that, but inside I was beating a drum solo in my chest.
I had overheard her consulting with Fuhou during the meal, and based on Mr./Ms. Luminous’ earlier remarks, I had guessed there was still something pending.
“It’s better late than never, but just call me Junma.”
“Right. Then you can call me So-suke.”
“I kinda wanna give you a nickname…… So-suke-chan…… So-pom…… Sou-se…… Source?” “Please don’t.”
“Che.
Fine then, So-suke it is.”
Good thing she gave up.
I used to go by a nickname that sounded like something you’d add to a dish to make it taste better.
“Wanna swing by the game room for a bit?”
“Ah, sure… but…”
By the way, our lighting has been switched over to Mr. Luminous’s “Heat and Light Magic.”
Glowing orbs float in the ceilings of each room and along the hallways.
This magic is incredibly efficient; in addition to illumination, it generates electricity even at night when combined with solar panels.
The two of us walked down the brightly lit hallway toward the game room.
It’s stocked with all sorts of things—pool tables, ping pong tables, poker tables, foosball, regular tables, darts—but there’s still a fair bit missing in terms of equipment.
“Thought about it, actually—want to try bowling?”
“Oh… yeah, I could probably make that happen with my ability.”
It might be tough to fit it inside this game room, but we could just build a bowling alley outside.
Since I can use my storage and reconfiguration abilities to handle the bowling balls once thrown and reset the pins after they’re knocked over, it’s a simple matter.
Abilities generally expand in capability the more you use them, but in my case, both the distance I can store items from and the distance I can place them back to have been extending as well.
Anyway, bowling sounds like something easy for everyone to enjoy together—pretty good idea, don’t you think? “Right?
Not bad?”
“The food stockpile has grown, too, so it might be good to start freeing up more time to just decompress from now on.”
It’s crossed my mind before, but even if I cut the scouting missions from twice a day—morning and afternoon—to just once, I still have plenty to live comfortably on.
No one’s going to punish me for having fun with all that free time on my hands.
Then again, given that we’ll eventually return to Earth, it might be useful to work out, improve my sports skills, or hit the books.
After all, the condition of my body carries over when I go back.
“Hey! That sounds great. Anyway, right now, I really want to try this one.”
What Unme took a liking to was table soccer.
You’ve probably seen it in an overseas TV show or movie before.
Inside the table is a field and the players.
The player figurines are attached to rods that pass through the table’s surface.
So, when you spin the rods around, the players rotate with them.
You place the ball on that field, and then it’s a matter of spinning your rods to smash the ball into the opponent’s goal.
There might be even more complex rules, but that was as far as my knowledge went.
“Alright, let’s give it a shot.”
“Since we’re at it, how about scoring points? That way, you can have something to negotiate with the opponent.”
“I don’t mind, but… is Runa okay with it?”
“Sousuke asking for a lewd favor? You? If you were the type to do that, you wouldn’t be running around in this harem situation.”
It was a relief to know I had her trust, though the reasons behind it were complicated.
I let out a bitter laugh.
“Alright then… start!”
Runa placed the ball herself and immediately began rotating the stick.
I lost my footing for a moment.
“Wait, isn’t that cheating?”
“Nhaha! No rules in yo-yo!”
She probably meant “no rules necessary.” “Damn it…! Not on my watch!”
It was a simple game, which made the competition clear-cut and easy to get lost in. “Ahaha! I’m just getting warmed up!”
Runa’s stick-handling skills were far too advanced for a beginner, and she steadily pressed her advantage over me.
I managed to block several of her shots, but eventually, I was pushed past my limit.
“Yes! Goal…! That’s my opening score!”
Jumi jumped up and down in delight, the motion causing her chest to bounce vigorously until her hem flipped up, briefly revealing her brown navel.
“I’m actually a bit pissed off… Let’s do this one more time… But before that, I had a favor to ask.”
When I said that, Jumi’s cheeks flushed crimson.
“U-um…”
She seemed nervous.
Feeling the atmosphere shift, I began to feel tense myself.
Juma lifted the hem of her wool loungewear to spread it out like a skirt and looked at me, saying,
“Why don’t you come inside?”
”…Huh?”
I didn’t quite get what was happening.
Five days until the print release!
