The “Bird and Beast Threat” quest has been cleared.
There were some pinches along the way, but the result is that all my companions are safe and sound.
We secured our rewards too.
This is the second one for the “Right of Dual Choice,” but since having multiple options isn’t a burden, I’ll hold onto it for later.
Among the existing options, “Abundant Vegetables” or “Sea Fish” look appealing, but I’m not exactly suffering without them.
With the quest cleared, I’ll have the Shadow Shield dispelled.
The branches of the treants under Inu’s control also returned to their original length.
Monsters’ abilities can be a great asset when they’re on our side.
Incidentally, the Styxparides that Inu had tamed turned into particles of light the moment the quest was cleared as well.
“You’re really becoming the protagonist type, aren’t you? It’s cool, but don’t worry me like this.”
“S-sorry…”
“Mai, thank you too.”
Near where I was apologizing to Chi-iyu, Matoba was thanking Hayate.
“Maybe it would have been better for you, Takuno-kun, though?”
“N-no, that’s not the case at all!”
The atmosphere over there is harmonious and amicable.
“Attention! Everyone, let’s check the extent of the damage to our base!”
Seihou, her face still flushed red, called out.
Other than part of the mansion being destroyed, there was no significant damage.
It was almost miraculous—or perhaps thanks to the combatants’ efforts—that the chicken coop and solar panels remained intact.
The Seiho party seemed to have suffered more substantial damage to their crops in addition to the building.
However, with Nagahata’s “Plant Magic,” it was said this could be regenerated immediately.
Effectively, they had barely taken any losses.
Given that kind of assault, getting off with this much damage was more than enough.
“Sousuke. What should we do about using the ‘Right of Dual Choice’?”
Fukaho, who held the first “Right of Dual Choice,” spoke up.
“If it wasn’t a ‘Mine,’ I would have definitely used it…”
“Yeah…”
“Let’s hold off for now and consult with everyone later.”
“Agreed.”
At the teacher’s strong urging, we then set about confirming the safety of the other students.
“I was thinking we’d combine this with searching the mine. I’ll have a designated group head to the boys’ camp… what do you think?”
The members selected for ‘Mine Exploration’ are me, Professor Luminus, Miyao, and Jinguan.
Jinguan Seishu is a member of the Sehou party, a beautiful girl who exudes the air of a high-society lady.
“W-What do you say? Should we bring Ioyama Chiyu with us too? Assuming we head straight for the mine once we find it… wouldn’t Fukubō Shinhō be well suited to protect her?”
I nodded in agreement to Sehou’s suggestion.
Her healing magic would come in handy if any of the boys were injured, and even if we waited outside the mine, having her there would drastically increase their chances of survival in the worst-case scenario where they suffered severe injuries upon clearing the quest.
With the danger of beasts no longer present, Shinhō should be more than enough protection for Chiyu.
I had the feeling that Chōhō was glancing at me, her cheeks flushed……
But I decided not to touch on it right now.
Anyway, we consulted with both parties, and the proposal was approved.
“Miyao, sorry for always relying on you to transform.”
“No, no.
I’m happy to be of use,” Miyao said, smiling shyly.
After that, she transformed into a black dragon.
「Sozusō, you really are rare to be able to ride Mīaa. Normally, Mikuron would get jealous, you know?
The little traitress says in a mischievous tone.
The fact that the phantasm beasts were unharmed seemed to have settled her nerves.
“Yeah, that’s true. Keep it from Mikron.”
“Whoa, that sounds like you’re cheating on him!”
“No, no…”
I only thought there was no reason to deliberately provoke anger…
「Sensei Tanbi, Master Miyoo, Lady Chiyu, Lady Fūhō, and——Master Sōsuke.」
Kazueno looks at me, a dazed smile playing on her lips.
It felt like the rapturous expression of one confronting an object of worship.
Since I had no idea why she was looking at me that way, I could only feel confusion.
“Thank you for your cooperation today.”
She gave a small bow.
Her generous bustle jiggled softly as she moved.
According to what I’d previously heard from Meki, Kamizono considered me her benefactor……
It was hard to believe that had anything to do with me.
“Ah, uh… yeah, please treat me well.”
And so, I mounted the back of Kuro Ryū Miyoo.
I took the lead, followed by Kamiyana, Chiya, Fuhou, and Professor Luminas.
“With your permission?”
Saying that, Kamiyana squeezed tightly against me in a hug.
“Mmmmm…
Ah, this is the scent of Master Souju…” …This is getting a little creepy.
The Black Dragon Palace begins to float into the air.
Our journey to find the mines began, circling around the male’s base camp. “Aren’t you scared? Miss Kamiyana.”
“Master Souju is here.”
”…Did you have any contact with Master Souju before the teleportation, Kamiyana?”
Fuhou asked, looking anxious.
“No. I’ve been frail since I was young and often skipped school.”
“Professor, this has been on my mind… Is she physically up to handling things on this desert island?”
“Hehe, yes, indeed.”
“That’s not… because the air on this island is good or something like that, right?”
“It is all thanks to Master Souju.”
“Hm, I get it. Since you said ‘Crafting ability,’ we thought things that don’t exist in reality could be made real, so Mimerun wished for something. That’s why you are our benefactor.”
“As expected from Lady Chiya. You are exactly right. At first, I thought how hollow this dream was. Even if I could meet my classmates in a dream, it just forced me to confront the reality that I barely even attend school. However, hearing Master Souju’s words, I realized there was still a possibility.”
“Possibility…”
“Yes. If I could have chosen anything, it was a ‘healthy body’ that I wanted. That is what I prayed for. And when I woke up on this desert island, I was astonished by how easily I could breathe. I was shocked at how light my body felt. I was stunned that I could run at full speed. I was saved by that mysterious presence.”
So there are people who experience things like that too.
In some ways, I am grateful to the mysterious blackboard, but the sensation of being forcibly transported and dragged into some unknown experiment remains strong.
But for Kamiitsuka, without this transportation, she would have remained with a weak body forever.
Life on the desert island must have been harsh, but the joy clearly outweighed the hardship.
“And all of this was thanks to so-and-so-sama, who spoke of ‘Crafting abilities.’ I am deeply grateful to so-and-so-sama for showing me the path to salvation.”
“Oh… um… you’re welcome?”
“This unworthy Kamiitsuka Seimaru intends to devote the rest of my life to repaying the kindness of so-and-so-sama.”
I couldn’t dismiss this by saying it was too heavy or burdensome.
The nature I had given up on for a lifetime had been changed, triggered by my words.
Her life had literally turned over in a new direction.
I could not deny that she was grateful to me, nor the weight of that feeling.
“It’s a nice thought to hear, but… please don’t push yourself too hard.”
“Yes! I shall spare no effort and give my all in faithful service to you!”
I told him not to push himself too hard, though…
Then again, it wouldn’t do to dampen his enthusiasm.
“Understood. However, since we’re traveling together for now, even temporarily, I want you to follow my instructions. Of course, feel free to voice your opinions at every turn.”
“It is only natural. If told to run, I will run; if told to stop, I will stop; and if told to undress, I will undress.”
“Mm, that’s a good attitude to have.”
“Thank you, Senryu-sama.”
“N-No, you mustn’t! I think it would be fine for Tamaki-kun, but you shouldn’t just take orders from a man to strip like that out of the blue!”
Mr. Luminous spoke with a worried tone.
“It is only natural. This body already belongs to Sousuke-sama. It would not be proper for it to be exposed recklessly to the eyes of others.”
“No, that’s not what I meant at all, and—”
“Ah, as expected of you, Sousuke-san… is that right?”
“To create a devoted follower on a desert island… My childhood friend, Sousuke-kun… you really are a frightening child.”
Kamien’s rapturous excitement left Professor Luminous and Fukaho looking thoroughly bewildered.
Senu, on the other hand, was entirely business as usual.
As for the men, all of them were safe and sound.
Unlike us, who had set up camp in the open grassland, most of them lived in the forest.
It proved to be a saving grace, allowing them to hide from Stymparides.
Incidentally, despite the Wheel of Transmigration possessing “teleportation abilities,” I was able to confirm via transceiver that he was unharmed as well.
And regarding the crucial matter of the mine—we found it too.
It wasn’t a cave; you could tell at a glance.
Partially embedded in the mountainside was an entrance constructed of stone blocks.
It looked obviously artificial, but aside from me, I doubt anyone on this island could build something like that—though perhaps except for Mystery Blackboard.
All I needed to do now was enter, bring back five types of minerals, and the quest would be complete.
Before I realized it, two years had passed since the serialization began.
Thanks to all of you, three books have been published, and the comic adaptation is getting started too.
It has turned into a blessed work.
I intend to keep going as long as there is demand for it,
It would be greatly appreciated if you could continue to support me!
