This is Chapter 3.
I generated a two-story house.
But I’ll wait a little while before placing it.
I had actually just asked Mashiro, who had only just returned, to flatten and level the surrounding land for me.
With Fenrir’s massive body, tamping down the earth would be an easy task.
He had been working hard even while we were eating our meal.
The area where the hut used to stand was still open, so Mashiro was giving it one last few tramps with his feet.
"Thanks a lot, Mashiro. I wish there was some way I could return the favor..."
Mashiro suddenly cast a quick glance toward the bathhouse.
He stared at the partition screen with an intent, heated gaze.
I let out a heavy sigh. I knew exactly what he was hoping for.
"Just to be safe, I'll give it a try, though."
The Fenril nodded and nodded, looking pleased.
"Hey, everyone...! Mashiro looks a little dirty today, so could you guys wash him off?"
The response was immediate.
"For sure! Mashiro worked really hard today, so I'll do the washing!"
"That settles it, I’ve certainly had my fair share of help too.”
“It’s no trouble at all for me either.”
“Exactly. Mashiro is part of the team now, isn’t she?”
“...Yeah, well, whatever.”
Mashiro yipped happily, gave my face a quick lick, and then hopped off into the bath area.
What is it about an alpha Fenrir wanting to enter the women’s bath...?
Well, I should be grateful that the phantasmal beast is so straightforward and cooperative. If the girls are okay with it, then I guess it’s fine...
“Now then.”
When it came time to assemble the house, what caught my attention was the foundation.
There were issues with adopting this particular method.
It is possible to generate the structure including the foundation. I have the [Crafting Ability] to thank for that.
But a foundation is, by definition, something buried underground.
I could go through the trouble of digging it out, but once it’s buried, problems arise.
Because it becomes ‘connected to the earth,’ it can no longer be stored in the [Inventory].
In a pinch, I’d have to abandon the house and flee on foot.
To my worry that I didn't want to lose my mobility, Shinhou offered a solution.
It seems there's a method called "stone foundation building."
Roughly speaking, it's just about placing stones and setting the structural posts of the building on top of them.
Hearing this, I vaguely remembered that I might have seen this in anime or other media when old folk houses appeared.
Of course, there are mechanisms to ensure the posts don't shift, but my [Crafting Ability] handles those details for me.
The stones used as foundations are also generated, so their shape and size are completely unrestricted.
I decided on the placement location—and finally placed them.
In that instant.
As if it had always been there, a two-story wooden house appeared.
"Alright...!"
I've heard people say it's a dream to own their own home after entering society, but I never imagined getting a house upon being transferred to a desert island.
I generated candles made from plant oils and candlesticks with handles crafted from stone, then used the bonfire to light them.
After that, I returned to the house, opened the door, and went inside.
By the way, the hinges were also made of wood and stone, making it a swing door that opens outward.
Step inside and you're met with a spacious entrance hall. Unlike back at the hut, I no longer have to meticulously store each person's boots.
I placed candlesticks and tapers on top of the shoe box as well, leaving them lit.
I prepared enough woven grass slippers for everyone and put mine on before heading deeper into the house.
In the kitchen, I installed a stove, stocking it with firewood along with cooking utensils and dishware.
The changing room, which is slated to be connected to the bathhouse, received baskets and spare bars of soap.
And in the living room, besides a wool carpet, I arranged several pieces of furniture.
I suppose it'll suffice if they check it out tomorrow.
Then I stepped out into the hallway, climbed the stairs, and arrived on the second-floor corridor.
There are three rooms to the right and four to the left.
"Ah, placing furniture before deciding room assignments is a bit awkward..."
Well, if there's a problem, I can just move things around later. So I entered the three rooms on the right and the first two rooms on the left, arranging furniture in each one sequentially.
Desks, chairs, shelves. On top of the desks, I placed candlesticks and tapers.
And the main attraction was—beds.
The sleeping platform was made of wood, something I could have built yesterday if it were all that needed doing……
…but there was the issue of sourcing the fabric for the futon cover and the thread required to sew it.
However, since the exploration team had brought back a massive haul of flax, that problem was solved.
I crafted a wool futon set—both a mattress and a comforter—and arranged them on the platform.
As a finishing touch, I placed a pillow filled with wool on top.
“Huh, isn’t this rather nice?”
I felt like the space suddenly had a much stronger sense of being a ‘home.’
With the priorities taken care of, I passed the time by putting my spear back in the armory and brainstorming other necessities for the house before heading outside.
“I really want some glass……”
I had installed sliding doors for the living room and windows in each room, but being a modern person makes one crave glass panes.
Lost in these thoughts, I stepped out to find four of them standing there, gazing up at the house in dazed awe.
There was a different sort of charm to how they walked—hair wet from the rain, towels draped around their necks.
As it happens, the girls are currently decked out in their fluffy wool outfits.
The four of them spot me as I step outside.
"Sousuke, this is absolutely incredible!"
Shouko’s reaction is always so candid, which makes her sincerity all the more heartwarming.
"Yeah... it really is amazing."
Even Shion had kept her response simple.
"A proper nest of love."
Chiyu was as usual, but you could feel her excitement bubbling.
"Truly magnificent..."
Fukumitsu had been a great help with all the consultations, but seeing the house she’d spoken about with such detail before her eyes left her visibly moved.
"Hey everyone, I’m heading to the bath. Feel free to come inside."
I handed Chiyu the candelabra and made my way to the bathing area.
"Sousuke-kun, are you sure? Don’t you want to see our reactions?"
To Chiyu’s question, I managed a wry smile.
Admittedly, watching people react to something you created is quite satisfying.
"Just tell me your thoughts later."
Passing by Mashiro, who lay outside the bath with a contented look on her face, I headed toward the bathing area.
Using such a large tub all to myself made me feel like I was indulging in some grand luxury.
I’m not really the long-soak type, so I was about to get out right away, but—
"Eeeeeeeh!?"
As soon as it sounded like Shouko’s voice let out a long scream of "Eeeeeee~!?", came a barrage of thumping noises, and the front door burst open with force.
Hot from my bath, I pulled on Amafubu's shirt and pants and stepped out past the screen partition.
Just then, Shouko came barreling out.
"Sousuke!"
"It's dark inside the house. Don't run, you'll get hurt."
"Ahhh, yeah, I'll be careful— no wait, forget that! How was it?"
I knew I had a goofy grin on my face.
"Oh my, oh my, it's amazing! I never thought we'd end up on a desert island where you have your own room and can sleep in a real bed! The floor futon and the pillow are super soft, and that's the best part!"
Shouko lunged forward, throwing her arms around me.
The scent of soap, her body heat, and the softness of her figure radiated through to me. "Ah... Sh-o, Shouko-san!"
Fuhou came rushing out shouting at the top of his lungs.
"Ahaha, caught in the moment there."
Saying that, Shouko pulled back away from me.
"It really is a wonderful home. And the counter kitchen—I bet it'll be lovely chatting with everyone in the living room while cooking."
Shion stepped outside.
"I can feel Soukuno's thoughtfulness and kindness everywhere."
Chiya entered, nodding deeply.
"M-me? I'm very impressed. No, moved is more accurate. The tree the two of you felled has become such a wonderful house. It only happened thanks to Inno's abilities, but I'm glad I could help."
"No, no, half the credit goes to Fuka. She consulted with me on lots of things. Besides, it would have been impossible for me alone to build this house by the end of today. Be proud of your own magic and knowledge."
I remembered how hard I'd worked on the first day just to fell a single tree, ending up exhausted to the bone with my hands in a shambles.
"……Y-yes. Thank you. It was fun building a house together."
"Yeah, same here."
The group relaxed into a harmonious atmosphere.
"Can Masiro's house wait until tomorrow? It looks like he's already asleep."
"Mm. Oh, I'd like it placed where it can be seen from my room window."
"Oh, let's do that. That way, when you wake up and open the window in the morning, you can wave to Masiro."
"Yes!
Exactly, that's what I wanted—" Shouko chattered excitedly.
"Anyway, let's get some sleep."
I'd already sent Shouko’s sheep home and stashed everything we needed to store away in Inventory.
We all headed inside the house.
Partway through, Chiyu came over to me, gently took my hand, leaned in close to my ear, and whispered.
"I'm heading to Saku's room after this."
"...
In lieu of a reply, I tightened my grip on Chiyu's hand.
It would seem it'll be a while yet before I fall asleep.

I've updated multiple times today, and this is the third chapter. I've generated a two-story house. But I'll wait a bit before placing it.
Actually, I asked Mashiro, who had just returned, to even out the surrounding land.
With Fenrir's huge body, leveling the ground is easy.
He had been working while we were eating.
Since the shack area was empty, Mashiro was stomping it out as if it were the last time.
"Thanks, Mashiro. If I could do something to repay you..."
Then Mashiro suddenly looked at the bathroom.
He was staring at the partition with a heated gaze.
I let out a big sigh. I understood his wish. "I'll just ask, but..."
Fenrir happily nodded.
"Hey, everyone...! Mashiro looks a bit dirty too, can you wash him?" The answer was immediate.
"Sure! Since Mashiro worked hard today, I'll wash him!"
「If that's the case, I'm grateful too.」 「I don't mind either.」
「Yeah. Mashiro is part of the team now.」 「Sure, why not?」
Mashiro chirped happily, licked my face, and then jumped into the bath.
I wonder how an Osfenrir that wants to use the women's bath would be...
Well, it's nice that the phantoms are cooperative, so if the girls are okay with it, then that's fine... "Alright then."
When it came to laying out the house, I was concerned about the foundation.
There were issues with using it.
It could be generated with the foundation included. Thanks to the ‘Crafting Ability.’
However, the foundation is basically buried in the ground.
I could dig hard, but once buried, it would cause problems.
It would become ‘connected to the ground’ and unable to be stored in the ‘Inventory.’
I would have to abandon the house and run away in an emergency.
I was worried about losing my agility, but Shinpo taught me something.
There's a method called "stone foundation."
Basically, it's just about placing stones and putting the building's pillars on top of them.
Listening to him, I vaguely recalled seeing something like this in anime or when old houses appeared.
Of course, there are mechanisms to prevent the pillars from shifting, but that part is taken care of by the "Crafting Ability."
The stones used for the foundation are also generated, so their shape and size can be freely adjusted.
Decide the placement--and finally place them. In an instant.
A two-story wooden house appeared as if it had always been there. "Good...!"
People often talk about owning a home being a dream once they become adults... but I never thought I'd get a house when I was transferred to an desert island.
I generated candles made from plant oils and candle holders with handles carved from stone, and got a fire from the campfire.
Then I returned to the house, opened the door, and went inside.
By the way, the hinges are also made of wood and stone, and it's a sliding door.
The entrance is a spacious foyer. Unlike the cabin, there's no need to store everyone's shoes individually.
A candlestick and candle are set on top of the shoe rack, and the fire is lit.
Slippers made of grass are prepared for everyone, and I put on my own and proceed.
A hearth is installed in the kitchen, along with firewood, cooking utensils, and dishes.
A basket and soap are placed in the changing room, which is connected to the bath.
And in the living room, I set up a wool carpet and several pieces of furniture.
You can see this tomorrow.
Then, I go out into the hallway and climb the stairs to the second-floor hallway. There are three rooms on the right and four on the left.
"Oh, so that's why you're placing furniture before the room assignments are decided..."
Well, if there's a problem, we can move them later, so I enter the three rooms on the right and the two on the left, and place the furniture in order.
A desk, a chair, and a shelf. A candlestick and candle are also placed on the desk.
And the star item is--the bed.
The bed frame is made of wood, and I could have made it yesterday too…
But there was a problem with the fabric for the bedding and the thread for sewing.
However, the exploration team brought back a lot of flax, so that issue is resolved.
I generated a wool mattress and a wool blanket and placed them on the bed.
I even put a pillow stuffed with wool.
"Isn't this pretty good?"
I think the house feels more like a home now.
Since I've taken care of the important stuff, I spent some time putting the spears in the armory and thinking about what else the house needs, before heading outside.
I really want glass...
I made sliding doors for the living room and windows for each room, but as a modern person, I want glass windows.
Thinking about that as I went outside, I saw the four of them staring up at the house.
Their wet hair and the towels around their necks gave them a different kind of charm than usual.
By the way, the girls are wearing their fluffy wool outfits. They notice me when I come out.
"Souza, this is amazing, right!"
Shouko's reaction is always honest, and that's why I'm happy to hear her true feelings. "Yeah... it really is amazing."
Even Shion's reaction was simple. "A fine nest of love."
Chiyu's reaction was as usual, but I could tell she was excited. "It's really wonderful..."
Deepo had helped me with a lot of consultations, and seeing the house in reality, she seemed to be moved.
"Everyone, I'm going to take a bath, so come in."
I handed the candlestick to Chiyu and headed to the bath.
"Soukun, is it okay? You don't want to see our reactions?" Chiyu asked, and I smiled wryly.
Indeed, it's fun to see people's reactions to something you've made. "Tell me your thoughts later."
Glancing at Mashiro, who was sleeping with a satisfied look on her face outside the bathroom, I headed inside.
Using a large bathtub by myself made me feel like I was indulging in something luxurious.
I’m not much of a long bath person, so I tried to get out quickly. "Eeeeeeek?!"
Just then, I heard Shouko’s scream, and a series of thumping sounds followed, as the front door was flung open.
Since I was still warm from the bath, I put on a linen shirt and pants before stepping out from behind the screen.
Then Shouko came rushing out. “Souma!”
“Inside the house, it’s dark. Don’t run around, it’s dangerous.”
“Ah, yeah, I’ll be careful—no, wait!” “How was it?”
I could tell I was grinning to myself.
“Wow, wow, it’s amazing! I didn’t think I’d get my own room on a desert island, let alone a bed to sleep in! The futon and pillow are so fluffy, it’s the best! I’m so happy!”
Shouko threw herself at me.
The scent of soap, her body heat, and the softness of her body all came to me. “Ah… Sh-Shouko-san!”
Deepo came rushing out and shouted. “Hahaha, I couldn’t help it.”
Saying that, Shouko stepped away from me.
「This really is a wonderful house. I love that it has a countertop kitchen, so I can chat with everyone in the living room while cooking.」 Shion also came out.
「I can feel your thoughtfulness and kindness everywhere.」
Senyuu nodded deeply as she appeared.
「I'm really impressed. No, I'm moved. The house turned out so beautifully from the trees we cut down together. I'm glad I could help, even if it was thanks to your abilities.」
「No, no, half the credit goes to Shinpo. You helped me out so much and without you, there's no way I could have built this house in one day. Take credit for your magic and knowledge.」
I recalled how exhausting it was to cut down a tree on the first day, and how my hands were a mess afterward.
「...Yes, thank you. It was fun making the house together.」 「Yeah, me too.」 Everyone was in a cheerful mood.
「Can we build Mashiro's house tomorrow? She looks like she's already asleep.」
「Sure. Oh, I'd like it to be in a spot visible from my window.」
「Okay, I'll do that. That way, when I open the window in the morning, I can greet Mashiro.」
「Yay! That's exactly what I wanted.」 Shokushu was excited. 「Let's go to bed for now.」
Shokushu's sheep had already been put away, and everything else was stored in the 'Inventory'. Everyone entered the house.
Midway through, Senyuu came over and gently held my hand, leaning close to my ear and whispering.
"Later, I'll go to your room."
"..."
I responded by holding her hand back.
It seems I'll still be up for a little while before I fall asleep.
Thank you all for letting me experience the number one spot for seven days in a row!!!!
